Cape Town – Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town hopes to have its water back by the end of Friday, after a burst water main caused serious shortages this week.
The city’s health department said the pipe burst on Wednesday and technicians had been working to fix it.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s water storage tanks were being replenished to make sure there was water in critical areas.
New emergencies were being sent to Groote Schuur and Karl Bremer hospitals instead. Where needed, it would carry out emergency surgeries.
Water supply was partially restored on Thursday night. It was hoped to have it back to normal later on Friday.
