Tanzania: Govt Plans to Hire 10,000 Health Workers This Year

THE government plans to hire about 10,000 health workers before the end of this financial year, to team up with the current workforce in order to strengthen health service delivery in the country, it was announced.

The Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Hamisi Kigwangala, said this in Dar es Salaam during a ceremony to open the new Aga Khan University (AKU) Nursing and Midwifery training facility.

Kyerwa Plans 200m/ – Hospital

Kyerwa district has set aside over 200m/- in its budget for construction of a district hospital, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kyerwa, Mr Innocent Sebba Bilikwate has said.

Mr Bilikwate told the ‘Daily News’ in an interview that for quite a long time people depended on Isingiro District Designated Hospital (DDH), which is owned by the Catholic Church.

Gambia: Qcell Completes D100m Health Projects

One of the biggest GSM service providers in the country, Qcell has completed its hundred million dalasi health support projects in the country.

As part of the handing over of the completed facilities to the health ministry, the Minister of Health and Social Welfare Omar Sey inaugurated one of the newly refurbished facilities of the project in Bondali, West Coast Region.

Speaking at the occasion, Minister Sey on behalf of the president and his ministry thanked Muhammed Jah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Q-group for refurbishing Bondali health post which was immediately upgraded to a Health centre. He prayed for Allah to reward Jah with abundant blessings.

He described Qcell as a true partner of the Ministry of Health, citing its provision of free electricity to 10 health centers across the country by Qcell.

The beneficiary health centers are; Bureng, Albreda, Kuntair, Illiassa, Karantaba Tenda, Ngayen Sanjal, Kuntaur, Garawol and Bondali Health centres.
